“I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth; do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19
Dear Friends of the National Workshop on Christian Unity,
Greetings from the leadership of the National Workshop on Christian Unity (NWCU). We are grateful for you and want to offer an update about where we are as we look ahead toward 2024 and beyond.
All of us value and cherish the rich experience we share at the NWCU and want to ensure a strong and vibrant future. To this end, we have entered a season of discernment about the workshop as a whole, focusing on improvements to our format, leadership structures, calendar, and possible partnerships.
To create space for this, the NWCU will take place in the second half of 2024, rather than in the spring. We intend to make an announcement about location, dates, and other details by the end of January 2024, following the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. For planning purposes, we anticipate that participation costs will be at or below 2023 costs.
As the ecumenical landscape continues to shift, it is our desire to strengthen the longstanding role of the NWCU in fostering ecumenical formation, mutual learning, and exchange among our various networks and beyond. We look forward to seeing you in the second half of next year, and to celebrating together the history and future of the NWCU. We covet your prayers and welcome your input along the way.
In Christ,
The National Planning Committee and National Ecumenical Officers’ Association of the National Workshop on Christian Unity
